Here is our Mid Month Update!

Please meet our New Range Safety/Launch Control Officer and all around great guy, Scott Siedler.

If you don’t know who Scott is already, he is one of our long time members who thankfully has found the time to join the group every month and has volunteered to share some of the duties that I have been handling since we started. Considering on how we have grown from a few flights to well over 100 at each of our Launches, Scott’s help has long been needed to keep everything organized and safe.

Please say hello to Scott at our next Launch. You will find him running back and forth between the Pads and the Launch Table helping everyone he can. Also take a look at some of the rockets he has built. We can all take some notes on his excellent building and finishing techniques.

And I don’t want to forget Marty, Mike and Bernie and all of our members who always give so much to the group.

The Homestead Launch is run by a bunch of really great kids. Most are students at Homestead High school and build most of their rockets out of paper towel and larger paper and cardboard tubes. They even make their own nose cones by rolling them out of heavy paper.

If you intend to go to their Launch and have anything to contribute to them such as kits, model rocket parts or cardboard tubing, Etc., please bring it with you or you can also drop off anything at our May 5th Launch and I will get it to them.

Thank you to all of you who continue to donate to our Launch Fund. We will continue to offer a free Model Rocket Kit while supplies last for a $10.00 or higher Donation. (If you want to donate and not take the kit that is OK too) Your voluntary donations help cover our equipment and permit costs and it also allows us not to have to charge Club Dues or monthly per person flight fees which most Rocketry Clubs do. Your continued Donations helps to keep us going by making it possible to get new equipment and keep our current equipment maintained and upgraded.

As I mentioned in the last few E-Mails, We have a big surprise hopefully coming in for our May Launch. I am still not going to give it away just yet but your Donations have made this surprise possible and I thank you all!

We do urge you to join the National Association of Rocketry http://nar.org The NAR does a lot to keep our hobby alive and they can use your support as well.

If you do join the NAR, please let them know that NAR # 21632/NAR Section # 717 Sent ya! For every new NAR membership that is recommended by BARS, the club Launch Fund gets $5.00 from the NAR. Every little bit helps!

And please forward this E-Mail it to anyone you may think would be interested in joining us.
