Hello Everyone!

Here is what’s happening with Broward Area Rocketry.

Changes:

Unfortunately, Vista View Park will be unavailable for our September 1st and November 3rd, 2012 General Club Launches.

But have no fear!

Trevor Fell who is the Manager of Markham Park in Sunrise has graciously  given us permission to use one of the large fields at Markham Park for these Launch dates.

Lets all give Trevor a big virtual pat on the back of his kindness!

Markham Park is a Broward County public recreation facility located in Sunrise Florida right on the border with the city of Weston.

The park’s physical address is 16001 West State Road 84 Sunrise, FL 33326 and the information phone number is (954) 389-2000.

It is just West of the 869 Sawgrass Expressway and North of the SR 84 service road at the end of Weston Road.

Our Launch area will be somewhere along the road above the “Triangle Road” on the left.

Changes Continues:

As you may or may not know, Broward Area Rocketry is sanctioned by the National Association of Rocketry  (NAR) which supplies us with the Liability Insurance Broward County requires to let us use the Park.

We have been informed by the NAR that all persons who fly with us must be NAR Members to be covered under their Liability Insurance Coverage.

So starting with the October 6th Launch date,  everyone who fly’s with Broward Area Rocketry must be a NAR Member to be covered under NAR’s Liability Policy.   This gives everyone more than enough time to sign up.  When you join, please add to your application that NAR # 21632/NAR Section # 717 sent you.

To fly with us, you will have to present your NAR Card and put your NAR Number for each Launch on the Sign in sheet.

I have checked with the other Rocketry Clubs in Florida and some from other States and they all follow this policy of having to be a NAR Member to fly with them.

Those with families, The NAR offers very inexpensive pricing for children and teens, 17 and under when a parent or guardian is or  becomes a NAR Member.

You can sign up at http://nar.org

We will also be formalizing the BARS Membership sign-up web application in that time also.  We will keep you updated.

I know this all may sound like a pain to some of you but the bottom line is to keep everyone safe.

More BARS News

Our next  Misfire Alley” Launch will be held at Vista View Park on Saturday August 18th, 2012 from 9:00 am to 12 Noon.

For those who attended our First Misfire Launch had a great time and offered some well received idea’s for the launches that are coming up.

To make things easier on flyers and staff, we are dropping the Per Flight Ticket fee and changing the Flight Fees to a flat rate of $10.00 for the first pad (low or mid power) and $5.00 for each additional pad that you want to setup. for as many flights as you can launch in three hours we are there.

Scott will once again setup the field for this launch to make sure things go smoothly and everything work perfectly.

Nick will also be out on the field to help setup and get each flyer ready to go.

Our next “Misfire Alley” Launch is scheduled for Saturday August 18th, 2012 for 9:00am to 12:00 Noon.

BTW, the low fees we ask for help us cover the large amount of continuing expenses a club like ours has and gives us the ability to give all of its members a great experience on our Launch days.

Now for all the regular stuff

Vista View Park and Markham Park allow us to fly 1/4A’s to G motors.  H and higher motors are not allowed.

(We are always in the lookout for a High Power field. If anyone know of a large open area that we could fly High Power, please let us know)

For our General Club Launches we supply the following  Ground Support Equipment:

A custom  10-Pad Relay Launch System, a newly updated and modified Six Pad Launch Rack with 1/8″, 3/16″ and 1/4″ Launch Rods with individual aiming for each Pad and a Quad-Pod for those of you whose Mid Power Rockets need a Launch Rail or a 1/2″ Rod. We are covered for just about anything you can launch in our field.

For the Misfire Ally Launches, you bring your own equipment.

Thank you to all of you who continue to donate to our Launch Fund. We will continue to offer a free Model Rocket Kit for a $20.00 or higher Donation. (If you want to donate and not take the kit that is OK too) Your voluntary donations help cover our equipment and permit costs.

All NAR and Vista View Park Safety Rules are in EFFECT! Let’s have a SAFE DAY!

We ask you to join the National Association of Rocketry http://nar.org  As of October 6th, 2012, you must be a NAR Member to fly with Broward Area Rocketry. This include all flyers including parents and their kids.

The NAR does a lot to keep our hobby alive and they can use your support.

When you  join the NAR, please let them know that NAR # 21632/NAR Section # 717 Sent you.

Also please remember that we are now using a Flight Log Sheet (Thanks to Nick for printing these up for us) to schedule each of your Rocket Launches.

And please forward this E-Mail it to anyone you may think would be interested in joining us.
