Hello Everyone,
It is with great sadness that I post about one of my life long hero’s, Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.
I was 12 years old in that summer of 1969 as we all watched the fuzzy images of Neil Armstrong first setting foot upon the moon.
I had just finished my first Revell Lunar Module plastic kit and mounted it on a board with bits of painted Styrofoam what would pass as rocks on the lunar surface. I was so proud of it thinking it somehow made me part of what was happening at that moment.
The National Pride took us all by storm as we watched this amazing event that not only fulfilled the promise that the late President Kennedy made to us all ” I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth”
Model Rocketry was a huge part of my life back then as a 12 year old and every time I pressed that button, in my mind my rocket was on its way to the moon along with Neil, Buzz and Michael.
Rest In Peace Neil
