As I reported in our last Email, Roy Snidow who was one part of our amazing Flight Crew, Passed Away on November 1st, 2020.

There will be a Memorial Service next Saturday at on November 14th, 2020 at 11:00 AM

The Service will be located at:

The Taft Street Baptist Church 7241 Taft Street.
Hollywood Florida, 33024

It’s at the N.W. Corner of Taft Street and 72 Ave.

Phone (954) 983-1413

Ironic that it will fall on a Vista View day.

All of our Flyers and families who would like to Show Their Respects are more than welcome to join the memorial Service.

To reiterate, Roy was an amazing person who has helped keep Broward Area Rocketry going for many years.

His knowledge of our hobby was only surpassed by the help he gave to the Club and all of the many hundreds of people who flew with us.

We could not have made Broward Area Rocketry work as well as it did without him and can never be replaced.

We wish to send our sincerest condolences to Roy’s Family, Friends and Associates.

I will post Services and Memorial Information as I receive it.   Rest In Peace.

Hello to all of our flyers, spectators, and friends!

Hope you are all staying safe!

Unfortunately, Vista View Park is not open as of yet for Group Gatherings of any kind.

We checked in with the Park and even though Vista View Park is open, Broward County is still limiting all Park usage for single person activities only such as walking and playing sports on your own.

We will keep in touch with our Email Subscribers of when it will be safe to head out to the Field again.

If anything,  this is a great time to get back to building new kits and homebrews.

Our best to all of you and your families and friends.

Hello to all of our Flyers!

It has been a difficult few months for many in Houston, South Florida and more recently Puerto Rico and glad to see that recovery is starting to happen there and hopefully will get faster as the roads are cleared.

And for us at Broward Area Rocketry, we have been rained out in July and August and Irma cancelled our September gathering.

And now we are back… Sort of.   Vista View Park has an event on our regular second Saturday Launch day so we are re-scheduling for the third Saturday October 21st at 10:00 AM.

Looking forward to a LARGE turnout.

And we are still looking for an alternative Launch Field in Broward County.  If anyone has an idea,  please let us know!

Please note:  Requirements to be able to Fly at Vista View Park

You must be a NAR Member.

You can become a National Association of Rocketry Member by clicking on this link.   Please note on the signup form that NAR Section # 717 sent you.  The NAR likes to keep track.

Please enter your name in the Flight Form on the Right Side of the page as we have to give this list to the Park a day before the Launch.

If you have already done this,  please enter it again just to make sure. The Form will tell you if you have already done so and you will not have to do it again.

We fly A through G Motors but no Multi-Stage or Cluster Rockets. And all Rockets and Motors must be inspected before you go out to the Pads.

We will also be asking for people to volunteer to be Spotters on the field.  We will change people around as the day goes on.

We are doing everything we can to stay in the good graces of the Park and the County.

The BARS Launch Crew get to the field at Vista View Park  at about 10:00 AM to setup the Tent, the Launch Equipment and Pads. Everyone is invited to help and it is very appreciated.

All NAR and Vista View Park Safety Rules are in EFFECT! Let’s have a SAFE DAY!

For all Launches, please remember to bring water, sun screen and head covering to protect you from the Sun. The South Florida Sun is very strong.  Even on a Cloudy Day,  you will get fried! Chairs, small covered tents and tables are welcome as well.

Lastly, If you are looking for Motors and Custom Chutes locally, please contact Mike West at 561-862-7126 or email mvwest75@gmail.com   or  Nick Martin at  nmartinjr@me.com

Please remember that Broward Area Rocketry does not charge any per Flight or Yearly Membership Fees for our Monthly General Launch.   We exist solely on your donations.   Don’t forget to throw something in the Donation Jar as you come around to the Flight Table to Sign in.  Thank you all who continue to help BARS offer our Launches every month!

See you all this Saturday,

The BARS Launch Crew

Hello Everyone!

As a nice finishing touch to Broward Area Rocketry hosting a tent at the 2012 Scout Camporee, we got a nice letter from Glenn Guarner.  Glenn  is the person that asked us to do this and has been a supporter of the Scouts and Rocketry for many years.
An E- Mail from Glenn Guarner

To Everyone at BARS

Hi Guys!

I must say that the experience at Markham Park was well beyond my expectations.  Thank you for the mention in your announcement, I do appreciate that!  While I may have been the spark to start things off, you all were certainly the big flame that followed!!  I wanted to return to this event to repeat what was done in 2009 by the Tripoli West Palm club, but I was at a loss for the resources to make it happen.  The guys in BARS came to the rescue in a big way and went way beyond what we did in 2009!!!  Thank you.  It was great to meet you all and I was very proud of what was accomplished at the event.  I have been out of the hobby for awhile and now I know that there is a place for me to go to get back in it.  I believe you guys will see me again very soon.  Thank you all and also a very special thanks to:

Marc (all the time and equipment was fantastic – so was the Level 3 and the G-motor finale!)

Scott (nobody worked harder – wow!)

Marty (you came through and the motor stand made the show – great job!)

Joe (great to see you – lets fly some bad boy rockets again – thanks for being there)

Everyone else at BARS…

Thanks and Godspeed.

Regards,

Glenn Guarner

Hello Everyone!

What an incredible day we had at our last Launch. We had great weather, low winds and I think we had our largest outing to date!

I always have to thank all the local people who came to launch with us and especially our fliers from way up north and way down south who have to brave I-95 and the Florida Turnpike just to fly a few with us.

And Marty, hope all is well with you and yours.

Thank you all who donated to our Club Launch Fund !

Since it worked out so well, I am going to continue our ALPHA/Donation Program.

Once again, For this coming Launch on Saturday May 7th, 2011, every person who makes a donation of $10.00 or more to our Launch Fund, (it can be more, I won’t complain) you will get a FREE Estes Alpha III kit (18.98 retail). Supplies are limited.

New Multi-Pad Launch System
We are still waiting to get a delivery date from Pratt Hobbies (I am bugging him as much as I can) on our new Multi-Pad Launch Controllers to go with our Six Pad launch Rack. Each Controller will handle 3 Pads. I am hoping to have them as soon as possible.

Here is what’s happening in South Florida Rocketry.

For the moment, this is the only Model Rocket Launch Venue available in the South Florida area. Lets all make the most of it! Rocketry is just not all High power! We can all enjoy flying anything from 1/4A’s to G motors.

As you can see from our headline, the next BARS Launch will be on Saturday May 7th,, 2011 starting at 9:00AM. We will be there between 8:00 and 8:30AM to setup the Tent, the Launch Equipment and Pads. Your help is appreciated.
