Closing out 2020 in  Memory of Roy Snidow Jr.

I think Roy would have loved this picture.

The Saturn 5  and the Christmas Holidays  were special for him.

It has been a rough year for all of us, most of our Launches canceled and the loss of one of our own.

From all of us at Broward Area Rocketry,  wishing you all the best of Health and Prosperity for the New Year.

Looking forward to getting our Field back as soon as possible.

The Bars Launch Crew

Brian, George & Marc

And a very special thanks to Nick Martin. We are all going to miss you!  Best of luck to you and your family in your future endevours!

As I reported in our last Email, Roy Snidow who was one part of our amazing Flight Crew, Passed Away on November 1st, 2020.

There will be a Memorial Service next Saturday at on November 14th, 2020 at 11:00 AM

The Service will be located at:

The Taft Street Baptist Church 7241 Taft Street.
Hollywood Florida, 33024

It’s at the N.W. Corner of Taft Street and 72 Ave.

Phone (954) 983-1413

Ironic that it will fall on a Vista View day.

All of our Flyers and families who would like to Show Their Respects are more than welcome to join the memorial Service.

To reiterate, Roy was an amazing person who has helped keep Broward Area Rocketry going for many years.

His knowledge of our hobby was only surpassed by the help he gave to the Club and all of the many hundreds of people who flew with us.

We could not have made Broward Area Rocketry work as well as it did without him and can never be replaced.

We wish to send our sincerest condolences to Roy’s Family, Friends and Associates.

I will post Services and Memorial Information as I receive it.   Rest In Peace.

The Flight Crew.  Broward Area Rocketry Society.

Hello to all of our flyers, spectators, and friends!

Hope you are all staying safe!

Unfortunately once again this month we have been informed by the Park that Vista View Park is not open as of yet for Group Gatherings of any kind.

We checked in with the Park and even though Vista View Park is open, Broward County is still limiting all Park usage for single person activities only such as walking and playing sports on your own.

We will keep in touch with our Email Subscribers of when it will be safe to head out to the Field again.

If anything,  this is a great time to get back to building new kits and homebrews.

Our best to all of you and your families and friends.

Good News!

We finally have our first Multi Pad Launch Controller!

Doug at Pratt Hobbies has finally delivered our first Multi Pad Controller. After spreading it all out on my kitchen table, it tested out just fine and it is ready for this coming Saturday. It can handle 3 Pads simultaneously which will allow us to keep the Launch backlog down. The Pratt Hobbies Website offers a full line of rocketry products.

Coming next Launch, our Six Pad Controller and Custom Launch Panel (Thanks to Marty for our custom case and HUGE Launch Button). Pratt Hobbies should have the Six Pad Box ready before the June 4th, 2011 Launch. I should also have the panel completed as well.

Thank you all who donated to our Club Launch Fund to help cover the costs of our club expenses which includes all of the Ground Support Equipment!

Since it worked out so well, I am going to continue our ALPHA/Donation Program.

Once again, For this coming Launch on Saturday May 7th, 2011, every person who makes a donation of $10.00 or more to our Launch Fund, (it can be more, I won’t complain) you will get a FREE Estes Alpha III kit (18.98 retail). Supplies are limited.

Here is what’s happening in South Florida Rocketry.

We are going to have some special guests at our next launch. Some of our local Cub Scout/Webelos will be joining us to launch rockets they built for their Science Badges.

As you can see from our headline, the next BARS Launch will be on Saturday May 7th, 2011 starting at 9:00AM. I will be there between 8:00 and 8:30AM to setup the Tent, the Launch Equipment and Pads. Your help is appreciated.

Vista View Park allows us to fly 1/4A’s to G motors.

Our Launch equipment includes a Six Pad Rack with two each of 1/8″, 3/16″ and 1/4″ Launch Rods and a Quad-Pod for those of you whose MPR Rockets need a Launch Rail or a 1/2″ Rod. We are covered for just about anything you can launch in our field.

TRIPOLI SOUTH FLORIDA NEWS
I personally asked the owners of our Florida City Launch Site if there were any way they would let us use the site again, I was told that would not be possible. They explained that they were extremely worried about anyone getting hurt out in the field. I am sure we all understand their reasons but that’s, that.

One a different note: I happened to be on a Motorcycle ride up to the Seminole Inn in Indiantown with the Hollywood Motor Cycle Riders Meetup Group last Sunday and as we rode up 27 to 80 and around the areas, there is an incredible amount of farm land that would make perfect HPR Launch Sites. Since I was riding with the group, I was unable to catch addresses, phone numbers or other info. If anyone has information about this land, please let me know. I will also continue to look into this.

If someone knows or has a suggestion for a High Power Launch Field in Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County areas. Please email us at info@narbars.org with any information.

You can also keep up to date at the Tripoli South Florida Website for possible future Launch dates.

That is all for now. Please keep an eye out for our emails which always lets you know of the local launches.

If you need to purchase motors, please see Bernie who usually shows up at the local launches. Please email him in advance at BENBUZZBOY3@AOL.COM to make arrangements. Bernie is a dealer for Cesaroni and Aerotech Motors and Hardware.

Anyone needing further information please contact us at info@narbars.org.

We will catch you all soon! Marc

Hello Everyone!

What an incredible day we had at our last Launch. We had great weather, low winds and I think we had our largest outing to date!

I always have to thank all the local people who came to launch with us and especially our fliers from way up north and way down south who have to brave I-95 and the Florida Turnpike just to fly a few with us.

And Marty, hope all is well with you and yours.

Thank you all who donated to our Club Launch Fund !

Since it worked out so well, I am going to continue our ALPHA/Donation Program.

New Multi-Pad Launch System
We are still waiting to get a delivery date from Pratt Hobbies (I am bugging him as much as I can) on our new Multi-Pad Launch Controllers to go with our Six Pad launch Rack. Each Controller will handle 3 Pads. I am hoping to have them as soon as possible.

Here is what’s happening in South Florida Rocketry.

For the moment, this is the only Model Rocket Launch Venue available in the South Florida area. Lets all make the most of it! Rocketry is just not all High power! We can all enjoy flying anything from 1/4A’s to G motors.

As you can see from our headline, the next BARS Launch will be on Saturday May 7th,, 2011 starting at 9:00AM. We will be there between 8:00 and 8:30AM to setup the Tent, the Launch Equipment and Pads. Your help is appreciated.
