Hello Everyone!

What a great Day we had at our last BARS Launch! We had on and off rain and heavy wind and we still all managed to fly till after 5:00PM!

I cannot thank those of you enough who donated to our Club Launch Fund for what you all did (you know who you are!). As Broward Area Rocketry is not charging any membership or launch fees for the time being, your very kind donations will go far in helping us upgrade our Launch Systems.

For this coming Launch on Saturday April 2nd, every person who makes a donation of $10.00 or more to our Launch Fund, (it can be more, I won’t complain) you will get a FREE Estes Alpha III kit (18.98 retail). Supplies are limited and only one per person please.

For the moment, this is the only Model Rocket Launch Venue available in the South Florida area. Lets all make the most of it! Rocketry is just not all High power! We can all enjoy flying anything from 1/2A’s to G motors.

New Items:
1) New Multi-Pad Launch System
We are still waiting to hear back from Pratt Hobbies on our new Multi-Pad Launch Controller to go with our launch Rack. Each Controller will handle 3 Pads. I am hoping to have them as soon as possible.

I apologize for the long wait for these new units. I will hopefully have an update from our vendor at the next posting.

2) Boy Scouts
Hopefully with better weather, Local Boy Scout Pack #441 in Pembroke Pines will be joining us with their Scout Leaders to fulfill one of their requirements to earn their Scientist Activity Badge. Lets all of us old-timers give a warm welcome to these great group of scouts! This is what Model Rocketry is all about!

3) Plantation High School Team America Rocketry Challenge and Student Launch Initiative
The T.A.R.C. and SLS Teams from Plantation High School is continuing to qualify with their Teacher and Advisor Mr. Joe Vallone.

Hello Everyone!

A big thank you for all who attended our best Launch to date last February 5th!

Between all of the new people and our regulars from both Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, we wound up flying till after 6:00PM.

Hopefully we will have a bit less wind at our next launch!

As always, I want to give a big thank you to Marty for all of his help and of course Rocket Rick, Neil, Jason and Paul?. (I know I may have gotten a name wrong or left one of our Palm Beachers out). I really need to get a sign-in sheet so I don’t forget anyone’s names. I promise I will have one for the next Launch.

Level 3 Notes:

I have put my Level 3 build on the back burner for the moment until I can figure out where I could launch it.

I will keep you all up to date.

The build is a Giant Leap Liberty 6 for my Tripoli Level 3 Certification. This Rocket uses 6 inch diameter Magna-Frame body tubes, G-10 Fins and a Fiberglass Nose Cone. It is just about 11 feet in height and when finished and loaded with a Cesaroni M1770 Skidmark, the weight should come in around 48 pounds. I have pretty much finished the kit and now I am doing some heavy duty ground testing before I paint.

For Pictures of the build: Click here.

I will be uploading more pictures as I complete the ground testing.

The kit itself was a custom design from Giant Leap Rocketry
It is an upscale of the GLR Liberty 4 which I used for my Level 2 Certification.

If anyone is interested in the RockSim 9 file for this kit, please email me at info@narbars.org

I highly recommend Giant Leap as one of Rocketry’s Leading Vendors.

Our November 6th Launch went off without a hitch as we joined Mr. Vallone of Plantation High School and his T.A.R.C Team 2011 Students.

As a special note, my friend of over 30 years, Les B had his very first launch using an Aerotech Initiator with an Aerotech F23-4. The launch and flight was absolutely perfect. The paint job was expertly done by Les’s son Nick

Launch Schedules:

* NEXT BARS LAUNCH: Saturday December 4th, 2010 at 9:00AM at Vista View Park

LEVEL 3 Certification!
If all goes well with testing, my Level 3 Certification launch is still set for Sunday December 19th, 2010 at our monthly Tripoli South Florida Launch.

For Pictures of the build: Click here.

The Aft section is now pretty complete. It have been foamed and the aft motor mount centering ring has been Epoxied in place. I just need to trim it up and attach the Rail Buttons.

My current project is finishing the AV-BAY and mounting the electronics on the sled. Check the Web Site for Build Updates

The kit itself was a custom design from Giant Leap Rocketry
It is an upscale of the GLR Liberty 4 which I used for my Level 2 Certification.

We will catch you all soon!, Marc
