Closing out 2020 in  Memory of Roy Snidow Jr.

I think Roy would have loved this picture.

The Saturn 5  and the Christmas Holidays  were special for him.

It has been a rough year for all of us, most of our Launches canceled and the loss of one of our own.

From all of us at Broward Area Rocketry,  wishing you all the best of Health and Prosperity for the New Year.

Looking forward to getting our Field back as soon as possible.

The Bars Launch Crew

Brian, George & Marc

And a very special thanks to Nick Martin. We are all going to miss you!  Best of luck to you and your family in your future endevours!

As I reported in our last Email, Roy Snidow who was one part of our amazing Flight Crew, Passed Away on November 1st, 2020.

There will be a Memorial Service next Saturday at on November 14th, 2020 at 11:00 AM

The Service will be located at:

The Taft Street Baptist Church 7241 Taft Street.
Hollywood Florida, 33024

It’s at the N.W. Corner of Taft Street and 72 Ave.

Phone (954) 983-1413

Ironic that it will fall on a Vista View day.

All of our Flyers and families who would like to Show Their Respects are more than welcome to join the memorial Service.

To reiterate, Roy was an amazing person who has helped keep Broward Area Rocketry going for many years.

His knowledge of our hobby was only surpassed by the help he gave to the Club and all of the many hundreds of people who flew with us.

We could not have made Broward Area Rocketry work as well as it did without him and can never be replaced.

We wish to send our sincerest condolences to Roy’s Family, Friends and Associates.

I will post Services and Memorial Information as I receive it.   Rest In Peace.

The Flight Crew.  Broward Area Rocketry Society.

Hello to all of our flyers, spectators, and friends!

Hope you are all staying safe!

Unfortunately once again this month we have been informed by the Park that Vista View Park is not open as of yet for Group Gatherings of any kind.

We checked in with the Park and even though Vista View Park is open, Broward County is still limiting all Park usage for single person activities only such as walking and playing sports on your own.

We will keep in touch with our Email Subscribers of when it will be safe to head out to the Field again.

If anything,  this is a great time to get back to building new kits and homebrews.

Our best to all of you and your families and friends.

Please note:  Requirements to be able to Fly at Vista View Park.

You must be a NAR Member to go out to the Pads.  Not a NAR Member yet?  Come on out and see what we do.  And bring your Rockets.  A BARS Member will take your Rocket out to the Pads and recover it for you.

You can become a National Association of Rocketry Member by clicking on this link.   Please note on the signup form that NAR Section # 717 sent you.  The NAR likes to keep track.

If you have not already done so, please enter your name in the Flight Form on the Right Side of the page as we have to give this list to the Park a day before the Launch.

If you have already done this,  please enter it again just to make sure. The Form will tell you if you have already done so and you will not have to do it again.

We fly A through G Motors but no Multi-Stage or Cluster Rockets at this time.

All Rockets and Motors must be inspected before you go out to the Pads.

We will also be asking for people to volunteer to be Spotters on the field.  We will change people around as the day goes on.

We are doing everything we can to stay in the good graces of the Park and the County.

All NAR and Vista View Park Safety Rules are in EFFECT! Let’s have a SAFE DAY!

For all Launches, please remember to bring water, sunscreen and head covering to protect you from the Sun. The South Florida Sun is very strong.  Even on a Cloudy Day,  you will get fried! Chairs, small covered tents, and tables are welcome as well.

Please remember that Broward Area Rocketry does not charge any per Flight or Yearly Membership Fees for our Monthly General Launch.   We exist solely on your donations.  Please don’t forget to throw something in the Donation Jar as you come around to the Flight Table to Sign in.  Thank you all who continue to help BARS with our Launches every month!

Hello to all of our flyers, spectators, and friends!

Unfortunately, after looking at the increasingly bad weather reports,  we have decided to cancel our Launch tomorrow.

The current weather reports claim 40 to 50 percent of Rain Showers and thunderstorms from the morning to through the afternoon.

And the Winds will be from 10 to 22 MPH.

This is not flyable or safe conditions.

Hoping for better weather in December.

And we wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Sep 102019

Hello to all of our Flyers.

We really hate cancelling our Launches especially since we did not have one in August but we had several “Gotch Ya’s” all at the same time and the BARS Launch Crew will not be available for the upcoming Launch.

We have some of our Launch Crew unexpectedly out of town and others with some personal goings on which will keep them from being able to participate this month.

As for me, (Marc) I have gotten a serious foot injury and MUST stay off my foot for several weeks while it begins to heal.  Non Weight Bearing is what the Doc said. It makes it very difficult for me to get around at all, let alone at the Field.

Now with the bad news out of the way,  we have some VERY GOOD NEWS……

As some of you have heard, we were getting within a few months of losing Vista View Park as a Launch Site because of  the new Park Area Construction on the big hill behind us.

Well as plans go, it looks like we will have at least another year or possibly more before it goes into effect and our Yearly Permit is in the process of getting approved by the County for our 2019-2020 Launch Year.

And we do have of plans of every so often joining our sister club, Homestead Public Rocketry at their site for a change of pace.

Again,  we apologize for cancelling but every so often “Real Life” gets in the way and stops us from doing what we love to do… Launch Rockets.

As a Reminder, The West Palm Club has a Launch up at Dyer Park on Saturday September 28th and Homestead had their next Launch on October 5th 2019.  You don’t want to miss these!

And one last thing,  Our Vista View Park, Park Manager Mr. Chris Deal has been promoted and will be the new Senior Parks Manager at Tradewinds Park.

If you did not know, Chris has been the driving force behind working things out between Vista View Park and Broward County which has allowed us permission to Fly at the Park.

Chris,  from all of us  THANK YOU! and we all wish you great success in your future endeavors!

And another last thing… We wish to also send a BIG Thank You to Ms. Jessica DeChellis who is watching over Vista View for the coming weeks.  Jessica has been really great to work with and has been kind enough to work with us on the Permit renewal and it all looks good!

Take Care, Everyone and hope to see you all on October 12th, 2019
